Trecal Scholarship
Trecal Excel Camp Scholarship
The Trecal Excel Camp Scholarship was founded in honor of former Excel Camper, Trevor “Trecal” Barroso who passed away at the young age of 26 due to a severe asthma attack. He was a very loving and giving man to everyone he met and those whom he did not have a chance to meet. Trevor was an organ donor and saved three people by his gift.
Trevor, whose father Brad served on many of the late 80’s and early 90’s Excel in Basketball Coaching Staffs, started camp at an early age and certainly stood out amongst the other campers. Trevor’s work ethic and positive attitude shined through as he took home the League’s Most Improved award at the young age of 11. Over the years he would continue to improve, winning multiple 1-on-1 and Free Throw competitions. He eventually placed fifth all-time on Excel’s Free Throw list, sinking 38 of his 40 attempts in 2007. Below is a complete listing of Trevor’s Excel Camp Awards.
- 2003 Most Improved, Big East Division
- 2004 Free Throw Champion (30/40)
- 2005 1 v 1 Champion
- 2006 1 v 1 Champion
- 2007 Free Throw Champion (38/40 – 5th All-Time)
About the Trecal Scholarship

Given Trevor’s experience at both Excel and at St. Agnes, his scholarships are awarded to active St. Agnes CYO players, who want to attend Excel Basketball Camp.
