Lucas has been a regular at Excel as a player and as a coach since he was in elementary school. Lucas was always a hard-working competitor at Excel and then went on to De La Salle where he was a fine three sport athlete before making the decision to concentrate on football. A second team All-State selection at wide receiver, he led DLS to a pair of league, regional, and state titles. He was an All-League receiver and outstanding student who then went on to Cornell University. Lucas had a great junior year, ranking among the conference leaders in receptions, yards, and touchdowns while averaging 15.8 yards per catch. Lucas had a pair of 100 yard and games and opened the season with a touchdown reception in each of his first five contests. He saved his best for last catching 10 passes for 164 yards and a touchdown in the season ending win at Penn. In a testament to his outstanding leadership abilities, Lucas was selected as a Team Captain in 2014. Lucas had 31 receptions for 380 yards in his senior year and ended his career as the 21st receiver in Big Red History to reach 1,000 career yards. Lucas won the Harvey Sampson Award for Most Consistency Throughout His Career.
