Blake Wayne-Fordham University

Blake Wayne-Fordham

Blake Wayne was an outstanding point guard at Excel in Basketball. A fine ballhandler and defender, Blake could run the team with his great basketball sense. Blake went on to De La Salle where he was a three sport competitor before zeroing in on football. A great leader at Quarterback, he led the Spartans to the 2008 North Coast Section Championship while earning all East-Bay and All-State honors. Blake then went on to play at Diablo Valley Junior College under Head Coach Mike Darr, who incidentally was the first Best Defensive Player at the Excel Camps back in 1982! After an outstanding year there, he transferred to Fordham University where he started at quarterback before being sidelined with an injury. When he came back from his injury, he switched postions and became a starting wide receiver for the Rams. Blake was the first quarterback to ever rush for 100 yards at Fordham. On another interesting sidelight, Blake's Athletic Director at Fordham was Frank McLaughlin, who was Coach Allocco's Freshman Basketball Coach at Notre Dame. Blake went on to play professional football for the Warsaw Eagles in Poland.
